Description
Access to housing is a structural problem that affects the well-being of the entire population and the competitiveness of Barcelona and its area of influence. A deficit that will be aggravated in the future by the growth of new models of coexistence, despite the low increase in the population.
Goal
To carry out a strategic thinking with more than 50 members, experts and key actors in housing and urban planning to develop concrete proposals for a new housing model for Barcelona and on a metropolitan scale.
The report, Barcelona Global's challenges and solutions to generate affordable housing in the metropolitan region of Barcelona, within the framework of the Barcelona Global Challenge project, prepared by more than 56 experts and partners of Barcelona Global, concludes that there is land available in the short and medium term to generate affordable housing and that there is financing to develop it. To face this challenge, the document proposes an Acceleration Plan for the construction of affordable housing, greater public-private collaboration and more proactive management by administrations.
