Davant el terrorisme, més Barcelona!

Once again radical Islam has attacked a European city. This time it has been ours, Barcelona. Cities like ours are the a symbol of democracy, progress, tolerance, openness, fraternity, freedom, respect and peace, which are precisely the principles that terrorists ignore and the reason why they attack us.

From Barcelona Global we want, first and foremost, to show solidarity with the victims of the attack, with their relatives and friends, most of them people who, like so many others, were enjoying holidays in our city. In such a sad moment, receiving so many signs of solidarity from everywhere has been a great consolation. Just as in the day we all felt citizens of Paris, London, Manchester, Brussels, Berlin or Nice, today we are comforted by the citizens of the free world feeling Barcelonians.

Secondly, we want to emphasize the pride we feel of being from Barcelona and to defend the principles and values for which Europe has been fighting for decades. We knew that we were vulnerable to the hate of the radicals but attacks like yesterday only make us stronger, more resistant to fear and fanaticism and more convinced that we want to be who we are.

We also wish to reaffirm our unconditional support for the security forces, as well as all those who have actively participated in taking care of  the victims and in recovering safety. Barcelona Global offered to help  the authorities and we will be helping to project the best image of Barcelona to the world, in tragic moments like this.

Barcelona and its citizens have reacted with solidarity, courage and pride and from today we will give terror the answer it deserves: filling the Ramblas with free people who want to live in peace. Our ideas, our values, our projects and our dreams are defended in a unique way: against terror, MORE BARCELONA!
